The Pinery Wastewater Treatment Facility is a renowned Bardenpho Nutrient Removal water reclamation facility with capacity to treat 2.0 MGD, followed by tertiary water treatment filters for enhanced chemical phosphorous removal. Our Operators perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and laboratory testing of our water reclamation systems. We ensure maximum efficiency of facility equipment utilizing preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance while taking great pride in facility cleanliness and appearance.

General qualifications for this job are detailed below. A successful candidate would have at a minimum the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• State of Colorado Wastewater “C” Operator Certification and Collections “1”, or ability to obtain within 1 year.

• Have a valid Driver’s License in good standing.

Ideal Qualifications – Wastewater Mechanic
• 3–5 years mechanical maintenance experience in wastewater, water, industrial, or similar facilities.
• Working knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, seals, valves, and solids-handling equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems critical to plant operations.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs and CMMS documentation.
• Advanced understanding of wastewater treatment processes and how mechanical systems support compliance.
• Familiarity with welding, fabrication, rigging, and alignment preferred.
• Basic electrical awareness and ability to work safely around energized equipment.
• Strong safety mindset with experience in confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m.- 3:00p.m., with paid holidays off.

The Loop Water Authority (“Authority”) located in Monument, Colorado is actively seeking an Executive Director to be a part of our team. The position is an exempt executive level engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, teamwork, strategy and innovation.

The Authority and Need: In 2019, a group of municipal water providers comprised of the Town of Monument, Woodmoor Water and Sanitation District No. 1 and Donala Water and Sanitation District, all located in northern El Paso County, Colorado began evaluating a single wholesale water supply, treatment and delivery project that could wholly (or supplementally) supply their service areas with a sustainable water source that is treated to primary drinking water standards while providing lower costs (through “economies of scale”), redundancies to existing systems and increased water supply resiliency. In 2021, this group of water providers commissioned a feasibility study to evaluate their concept of the Loop water system. The results of the study were published in May of 2022 and the group has developed a business model framework for allocating capital and O&M costs among the project participants and has determined that the project is feasible in relation to other sustainable water supply/delivery opportunities in the region.
Since then, the group has formalized their relationship through the formal creation of the Authority with the purpose of the Authority being to advance the Loop project from concept through implementation and long-term operation. The system to be constructed consists of approximately 17 miles of 24-inch diameter pipeline, five (5) pump stations, an advanced water treatment plant and enlargement of an existing surface water storage reservoir.

Currently, the Authority is performing engineering design on the various components of the system and has hired two separate engineering firms to perform those designs and in 2026 the Authority expects to complete the financing process for funding the construction of the project either through conventional municipal bond issuance or through a public private partnership (P3) agreement.

Specific tasks the Authority anticipates the Executive Director facilitating, developing and completing in the near future are summarized below:
· Refine the business model and operations schema of the Authority and its services to its member agencies.
· Facilitate and collaborate with the Authority and its legal counsel to develop the necessary legal documents that support the refined business model, which incorporates the identified services that the Authority will provide to its member agencies as well as commitments that the Member agencies make to the Authority. The group anticipates that those legal documents will consist of, but not be limited to the following:
- An operating agreement
- Cost allocation agreements
- Delivery Fee schedule/agreement
- Water Supply Leases
- Financing Agreements
- Take-or-Pay Agreements
- Supply Limitations and Curtailment Procedures
- Negotiate (on behalf of the Authority) with the Authority’s P3 partner to facilitate the development of a formal offer from the P3 partner
- Oversee and manage engineering firms working on design of the various components
- Seek out, select and employ the services of other specialized professionals as needed to support planning, design, permitting and implementation of the Loop water system.
- Develop and implement a public outreach program that informs member agency constituents of the project and its benefits
- Oversee and manage construction of the project

Until construction of the project is complete and the system operational, the Authority does not anticipate a need to hire additional employees, however, after construction the Executive Director, under the guidance of the Authority Board, will be tasked with onboarding staff necessary to perform ongoing and long-term administration, operations and maintenance of the system. The Authority currently has third party contract service agreements in place for the following items and expects the Executive Director to collaborate with the contractors/consultants for the following services:
· Accounting
· Engineering (civil & water resources)
· Legal
· Land/Easement/Right-of-Way Acquisition Support

Ideal Candidate: The selected Executive Director will possess a balanced blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strong experience of water and sewer infrastructure contracts, construction, operations and management. This includes direct experience with strategic planning, budget management, and capital improvement plans.

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator with strong written and oral skills and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Authority’s Member Agencies, the Authority’s Board of Directors, local, state, federal agencies, stakeholders, and within the community to ensure that a common vision is enacted and supported.
Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemistry or a closely related field is desired. An advanced degree is preferred.
The Authority anticipates that the individual selected to fill the role(s) and responsibilities described herein is likely to be a professional engineer, architect or a previous utility director/deputy utility director with an advanced degree such as an M.S. or MBA with at least 5+ years of experience in planning, designing, coordinating and permitting (including specialized permitting process such as County 1041, USACE 404, U.S. Fish and Wildlife section 7, etc.) of large scale municipal water and/or wastewater projects with 5+ years of experience in managing such projects and project activities from a Principal or administrative level of management and/or oversight.

Work Environment
Exposure to potential hazard from caustic chemicals and gases in water and wastewater treatment plants, exposure to high noise levels, dust, including confined spaces. Assists in the planning and supervising of mechanical maintenance and operational activities related to water utility operations.

Job Summary
The Wastewater Treatment Facility Foreman is an integral part of the wastewater operations team at Mt. Crested Butte Water and Sanitation District. This position oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater collection system, lift stations, and treatment facilities. The Foreman is responsible for managing operators and field staff, ensuring safe and compliant operations in accordance with CDPHE, EPA, and OSHA standards. Position: Water Operations Controller

The starting pay rate for this position is $46.33 followed by an increase to $48.64 after six months.

As a Water Operations Controller, you'll leverage our SCADA system to monitor and control Colorado Springs Utilities’ water and wastewater system pressures, flows, and levels, as well as coordinate with our field personnel to ensure proper pressures, flows, and levels during scheduled maintenance and emergency situations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Under limited supervision, the  ORC Utility Distribution Supervisor performs highly skilled labor and supports, monitors, and facilitates water, sewer, and stormwater activities for the division, monitoring compliance with local, state, and Federal regulations. EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
•    Must have a high school diploma or possess a GED and be at least 18 years of age.
•    Must have a valid Class B or higher commercial driver’s license (CDL). 
•    Must obtain Flagger Certification within 6 months of hire.
•    Class 1 Wastewater Collection Certification within one year from the date of hire.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Under limited supervision, the ORC Utility Distribution Supervisor performs highly skilled labor and supports, monitors, and facilitates water, sewer, and stormwater activities for the division, monitoring compliance with local, state, and Federal regulations. As the Distribution ORC, ensure that the system operation can continue seamlessly; adhere to follow all ORC responsibilities per state guidelines (State regulation 100.12.5)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) for optimal system operation and update and keep plans and reports of system operational activities.
•Maintain centrally located, easily accessible information system record keeping as required by the state. Develop written operating (delegating) plans before allowing other operators to perform any system tasks or activities (include hands-on training). Provide annual briefing to the Deputy City Administrator (DCA).
•Report instances of non-compliance to the Deputy City Administrator and state as required.
•Provide capital improvements, future maintenance, asset management, and contingency plans and actively participate in the planning associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of a water facility. Ensure all permits are obtained before the start of projects.
•Schedule inspections/sanitary surveys as directed by the Deputy City Administrator (or their designee) and attend these surveys.
•Supervise responsibility for the operation and day-to-day operation of the distribution system and ensure water quality.
•Perform additional duties as enumerated in 100.11.2.
•Participates, assists, and supports the construction, maintenance, and repair of the municipal potable water system.
•Installs, adjusts, and repairs utility access holes, utility access hole frames and covers, sewer clean-out boxes, valve box castings, curb stops, water meter boxes and meter setters; provides senior level expertise for challenging issues and supports other staff and personnel.
•Makes main water line tap connections for extension of distribution system and makes water meter connections of various sizes and type; installs, repairs, and reads water meters.
•Places new water meters in inventory by proper identification with meter number and records meter inventory data; monitors readings and checks low consumption or leakage reports.
•Installs, tests, repairs, paints, and maintains fire hydrants; establishes layout and sets up safety traffic controls around active work area.
•Cuts and repairs distinct types of paving, cuts, fits, and lays water and sewer lines.
•Sets up and operates a confined space entry tripod and safety harness and associated data recording; performs atmospheric monitoring of a confined space and prepares confined space entry permits and files reports.
•Operates heavy machinery, hand tools, power equipment, and vehicles, including commercial vehicles; maintains city vehicles and equipment and ensures the appropriate maintenance and care of equipment by other personnel.
•Participates in the rehabilitation of wastewater collection system lines, laterals, and utility access holes; assists with televising and sealing of sanitary sewer lines.
•Follow all Colorado State requirements for water treatment and distribution as indicated on the attached Water Duties and Responsibilities. Subject to change based on state mandates.
•Performs all other work as needed or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
•Must have a high school diploma or possess a GED and be at least 18 years of age.
•Must have a valid Class B or higher commercial driver’s license (CDL).
•Must obtain Flagger Certification within 6 months of hire.
•Class 1 Wastewater Collection Certification within one year from the date of hire.
•Class 3 Water ORC Distribution Certification from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and maintain certification as required (Regulations 100.16.6, 100.16.7).
•Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in municipal potable water system and at least three (3) years’ experience in municipal sewer systems.

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Public Works Director performs professional, supervisory, and hands-on operational work in planning, organizing, and managing all municipal public works operations. Areas of responsibility include water distribution, wastewater collection, streets, drainage, parks, facility maintenance, fleet/equipment upkeep, and snow and ice control. The Public Works Director provides field leadership, oversees staff, manages contractors, maintains compliance with state and federal regulations, and ensures safe, efficient, and responsive delivery of public services to the residents of Hugo.

Water Plant  
•    Control treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and or industrial use.

Job description:

Located at beautiful Horsetooth Reservoir just west of Fort Collins, CO, Spring Canyon Water & Sanitation District is a quasi-municipal government entity organized under Title 32 Colorado Statutes. Our District serves 562 water service connections and 408 sewer service connections. The District distributes purchased treated water through a consecutive-connection intergovernmental agreement with the Fort Collins Loveland Water District and collects wastewater that is transmitted to the South Fort Collins Sanitation District to be treated.

The Water & Sewer Operator and Maintenance Technician will perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the District’s water distribution and sewer collection systems. The O&M Technician will be expected to exercise a level of reasonable care and judgment consistent with the required level of experience and training. The O&M Technician will work as part of a team, focused on the proficient operation and monitoring of equipment in water and wastewater systems. An ability to perform skilled operations and maintenance services is an essential responsibility. This position must work well independently and with teams, while providing responsive, respectful customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

a. Aids the District Manager and ORC in the overall operation of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution and sewer collection systems.

b. Assists in the coordination of transmission line breaks including: initial valve shutoff, coordination of contractor response, contact with affected residents, documentation of work performed, and inventory management.

c. Performs the overall maintenance of system under the direction of the District Manager and ORC including valve exercise program, meter maintenance, meter installation, tank and pump station maintenance and scheduling, fire hydrant maintenance, water line flushing program, and monitoring of all system components.

d. Reads water meters monthly using a radio system and delivers high usage notices to customers who may have leaks.

e. Follow maintenance and repair schedules for both the water distribution and wastewater collection system equipment and update them as needed. Equipment includes but is not limited to: pumps, motors, drives, blowers, valves, hydrants, and all appurtenant mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

f. Coordinates the maintenance, inspection, and the performance and or scheduling of repair work or service on District buildings, vehicles, and facilities.

g. Organize, clean, and maintain District tools and equipment.

h. Schedule and manage preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of District equipment and facilities as needed.

The City’s Wastewater Treatment Facility recently received significant upgrades to increase capacity to 0.995 MGD and produce an exceptional effluent.  The Facility operates one of the first independent, full-scale Nereda^TM aerobic granular sludge (AGS) plants in the United States.  The improvements include a new headworks with mechanical bar screen and grit removal, influent equalization and pumping, AGS reactors, tertiary filtration, UV disinfection, aerobic digestion, and screw press dewatering.

Located at beautiful Horsetooth Reservoir just west of Fort Collins, CO, Spring Canyon Water & Sanitation District is a quasi-municipal government entity organized under Title 32 Colorado Statutes. Our District serves 562 water service connections and 408 sewer service connections. The District distributes purchased treated water through a consecutive-connection intergovernmental agreement with the Fort Collins Loveland Water District and collects wastewater that is transmitted to the South Fort Collins Sanitation District to be treated.

The Water & Sewer Operator and Maintenance Technician will perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the District’s water distribution and sewer collection systems. The O&M Technician will be expected to exercise a level of reasonable care and judgment consistent with the required level of experience and training. The O&M Technician will work as part of a team, focused on the proficient operation and monitoring of equipment in water and wastewater systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

b. Assists in the coordination of transmission line breaks including: initial valve shutoff, coordination of contractor response, contact with affected residents, documentation of work performed, and inventory management.

c. Equipment includes but is not limited to: pumps, motors, drives, blowers, valves, hydrants, and all appurtenant mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

The Redhill Forest HOA and Water System located near Fairplay Colorado is seeking to contract an Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC). The Operator will:

1. Work as a contractor and must have experience in operating a small water treatment plant with pressure filters used for treating ground water. 

2. Be familiar with all aspects of chemical treatment and being in charge of meeting local, state and federal regulations. 

3. Oversee a water system consists of 220 water meters, 581 lots, 2 wells, a Kurtia/Tonka water treatment plant and two storage tanks. The system removes iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, radium and adjust Ph. The treatment consist of aeration, potassium permanganate, HMO, filtration, polymer addition and chlorination. The HOA contracts with a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to perform onsite visits for testing and oversight of waste disposal. The system can be monitored and controlled by computer.  

4. Maintain water system components that typically treat 2 to 3 million gallons per year. 

5. Coordinate and work with a Redhill Contractor that performs excavation work for purposes of water system maintenance, component installations and new users.

6. PRV maintenance, taping waterlines, etc as needed. The water system is in excellent condition with essential backup inventory of pumps. 

7. Conduct system drive by meter reading and reports. Estimated to add ten new meters per year. 

The HOA is currently undergoing an Engineering analysis to identify current and future planning needs.

St Charles Mesa Water District is seeking an experienced Water Distribution Operator to join our team and help provide high quality potable drinking water to our 4,400 customers from our 5 MGD Direct Filtration Treatment Facility, water tanks, and 206 miles of potable water distribution system piping. This position performs a variety of unskilled and skilled manual tasks in connection with the housekeeping, installation, maintenance and repair of the Districts’ pumping, water treatment, storage and water distribution system.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including; utility and dump trucks, backhoes, motor graders, tampers, air compressors, pipe cutters, tapping machines, water pumps, torches, gasoline saws and fresh air ventilation machines.  Responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
• Installs, maintains and repairs water mains of various sizes and materials, meter sets, service lines, water valves and fire hydrants in accordance with District standards and specifications.  Makes taps of various sizes on all types of water mains.  Assists in conducting water flow tests on fire hydrants.
• Provides assistance in preparing the work site.  Unloads truck and distribute materials, tools and equipment.  Sets up barricades and traffic control devices and directs traffic for smaller construction projects.  Repairs road and excavation sites as necessary.
• Locates and operates valves and fire hydrants; ensures that air is properly removed from water mains and that valves are opened and closed properly to prevent damage to the distribution system.
• Assists and performs maintenance duties and housekeeping chores on pump station facilities, structures, heating and plumbing systems, landscaping, ditches, piping and conduits.

• Installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains intake structures, under-ground and above-ground tanks, reservoirs and other storage facilities. Maintains grounds including landscaping, sprinkler systems and trees.
• Performs related duties such as welding, sheet metal work, carpentry, painting, pipe fitting and cement work.
• Responds to stand-by or emergency calls on a rotation basis with others in the department.

Reviews the existing and proposed federal and state laws and regulations to determine their effects on the District operations. • Takes a leadership role in stakeholder groups, such as the Water Quality Forum, Colorado Wastewater Utility Council, Colorado Water Utility Council, Colorado Water Congress, the Barr-Milton Watershed Association, and other similar organizations to assess possible impacts of proposed environmental regulations on the District’s operations and compliance. 
• Assists in the evaluation of the need for emergency response to water and wastewater, or other related emergencies when needed.
• Actively participates in rulemaking hearings in front of the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission and Air Quality Control Commission when the outcome affects the District’s operations
• Comprehends the state and federal legislative process and communicates how legislation will affect the District operations. Conversely, communicates the District’s concerns and comments to legislators.
• Lead coalitions with other utilities or other groups with common interests to advocate for the District’s interests.
• Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, legal field or related field, and

Operators at all levels perform skilled technical work for the operation and maintenance of the City’s water treatment plant and distribution system, including water sampling and testing, SCADA monitoring, preventive maintenance, emergency response, and customer service.

Requirements per Level

• Operator I: Entry level; basic plant operations under supervision. Colorado Class D Water and Class 1 Distribution licenses required.

• Operator III: Advanced operations, chemical calculations, GIS, regulatory compliance, and mentoring. Colorado Class B Water and Class 3 Distribution licenses required

Wastewater Treatment Operator - Nathrop, CO

We are a homeowners association (HOA) community with 306 privately owned lots in Nathrop, CO. Our wastewater treatment facility is a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) plant, designed to process up to 12,100 gallons per day. The system includes a single lift station. As the sole wastewater operator for our community, you would be responsible for all aspects of the system's operation and maintenance. Salary level will be commensurate with experience.

The job will entail approximately 20–25 hours per week of work related to the wastewater system. The operator must follow all regulatory requirements for both the discharge permit and the Public Water System (PWS). This includes adhering to sampling schedules, completing regulatory paperwork, and performing daily monitoring and maintenance of the facilities. Specific tasks and time commitments may vary depending on the sampling schedule and compliance needs.

Job Requirements:

â High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

â Possess a valid Colorado driver's license

â Minimum of one year of industry experience (preferred)

â Must possess a minimum of a Colorado Wastewater Treatment Operator (B) and Wastewater Collection System Operator (1)

Job Responsibilities:

â Engages in the daily operation and maintenance of secondary wastewater treatment facilities and collection system including but not limited to treatment, changing chemical containers, dewaters sludge, delivers needed materials, and performs general plant maintenance and housekeeping including buildings and grounds

. â Participates in operating, repair and maintenance of pumps, motors, sludge equipment and other related equipment

â Cleans precipitates such as grit, solids, trash, and debris from sump, catch basin and grit chamber. Opens and closes gates and valves according to process demands or needs.

â Collects samples and conducts wastewater laboratory tests.

â Responds to alarms and equipment failures. Takes necessary actions to maintain acceptable plant operations.

â Maintains a variety of records, reports and logs for treatment facilities.

â Performs calibration, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on all instrumentation, equipment, and facilities used in treatment processes.

â Makes regular assessments of water and wastewater flow, turbidity, BOD, pressures, chemical usage, residuals, temperatures and other pertinent data to maintain proper plant operating conditions.

â Observes pumping equipment at lift stations to identify possible problems and make appropriate repairs.

Work is mainly performed outside. Work often can call for lifting, pulling, or pushing of items weighing 50 pounds or more. The operator may be subjected to working near mechanical parts and in all outdoor weather conditions.

Fremont Sanitation District (FSD) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Engineering Technician in the Engineering Department.

The Engineering Technician is responsible for the design and development of sanitary sewer line plans for new and replacement sewer systems. This position works under the supervision of the District Engineer to accurately and efficiently complete all phases of work, from surveying and collecting data in the field, to rendering detailed final drawings for planning and construction projects. The Engineering Technician also plays an active role in contracted sanitary sewer construction and rehabilitation projects, performing detailed inspections and documenting conformance with plans and specifications.

This is a full-time position with a 40-hour per week schedule. Hours are normally 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, although hours can possibly be adjusted to meet the needs of the selected candidate. May be required to work during emergency situations.

The position will be filled at one of the following levels, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications:

• Engineering Technician I (Salary Range $51,533 - $72,150)

• Engineering Technician II (Salary Range $56,815 - $79,545)
